“Art and Education in Latin America: Perspectives, Interpretations and Decolonial Writings”

The Art Department at Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México Tijuana call for papers for theInternational Congress “Art and Education in Latin America: Perspectives, Interpretations and Decolonial Writings” to take place from July 10thto 12thin Mexico City.
Our main objective is to “debate and discuss different Latin American views about Art and Education through decolonial and postcolonial proposals.” The Congress is organized according to five main topics: i.New methodologies and investigations of Art and Art Education,ii.The curriculum and the identity of the Art Educator, iii. The formation of professors of art, iv. Historias de la enseñanza del arte: experiences, personalities, methodologies and Latin-American theories, v. Different artistic experiences in different social and educational contexts.
The Congress is divided in two sections. The first one will consist of five panels of scholars and experts. The second will be three roundtables about Latin American Art Education practices. This section will accept summitted papers.
Roundtables are organized around three themes. All submitted papers must specify one of the following topics:
- Educational Services in Museums and Cultural Centers
- Political and cultural practices in Art Education
- Art Education, Technology and other media
Proposals of papers for the roundtables must be made by April 30 using our online submission form:
The Congress Committee considers the proposals in April, and would-be participants are informed of the committee’s acceptance or rejection by May 1.
Official languages: Spanish, Portuguese and English

Scholars, Academics and Researches: $1000.00 (One Thousand Mexican Pesos 00/100 M.N.) o $50 USD*
Students: $500.00 (Five Hundred Mexican Pesos) or $25 USD*
General Public who will not participate with submitted papers: $300.00 (Three Hundred Mexican Pesos) or $20 USD*
*A limited number of scholarships (50% off) will be granted to teachers and students from public institutions and grand holders of Mexican federal programs.
